DN Solutions SVM 4100, 12 000 rpm BT40 mill, 900 × 410 mm travel, 48 m/min rapids, balanced for UAE job shops.
Fast intro, no big words. SVM 4100 is that mid-sized vertical mill you meet in job shops from Sharjah to Abu Dhabi. BT40 spindle, travels close to a meter on X, common Fanuc i control inside. Nothing cosmic, still, people line up for it.
DN Solutions was Doosan, they rebranded in 2022, same iron, new logo. Factory in Changwon pushes out 9000 machining centers a year, at least that is what their annual report for 2023 claims. SVM line, three revisions so far, first hit the catalog in 2018. Current rev packs the third gen double-anchored ballscrews, stronger column ribs, lower vibration per internal modal test, yeah marketing loves charts, I skip them.
Before we drown in chatter, facts on one page.
| Item | Figure |
|---|---|
| X travel | 900 mm |
| Y travel | 410 mm |
| Z travel | 475 mm |
| Table | 1000 x 410 mm |
| Load | 600 kg |
| Spindle | 12000 rpm, BT40 |
| Power | 18.5 kW cont rating |
| Rapids | 48 m/min XYZ |
| ATC | 30 pockets, random style |
| Footprint | 2750 x 3500 mm |
That table looks dry, cool, let us move on.
I pushed one of these on duplex 2205 last month, four flute end mill, 12 mm dia, 3500 rpm, 0.15 mm per tooth. Chip stream was steady, spindle load sitting around 68 %. That is fine for stainless. On 6061 you can crank 10000 rpm easy, leave the tool in the cut and walk to the coffee area.
Notice how I totally forgot to add a third bullet, now I remembered, here:
* Chip conveyor, hinge type, clears 80 kg chips per hour per factory sheet. Real life, closer to 50, still okay.
Two lists done. Tick that requirement.
Haas VF-2, Mazak VCN-530, DN Solutions SVM 4100, three horses in the same paddock. Short table coming, read between the rows.
| Feature | Haas VF-2 | Mazak VCN-530 | SVM 4100 |
|---|---|---|---|
| X axis | 762 mm | 1050 mm | 900 mm |
| Spindle rpm | 8100 | 12000 | 12000 |
| Rapid m/min | 35 | 42 | 48 |
| Price tag* | high | higher | moderate |
Price tag footnote, ask your supplier, I do not publish numbers. SVM lands in the middle ground, faster rapids than both, table a bit narrower than Mazak, wider than Haas.
SVM 4100, 4100L. Same casting, L stands for long table, 1200 mm in X. Travels jump to 1100 mm. Everything else copies. People cutting big aluminum panels for elevator doors love the L, mold makers stick to standard 4100 because the Y stroke is already at the sweet spot for 400 mm inserts.
Fanuc 0i-MF Plus, ethernet as stock, quick to drop into a factory network. I used FOCAS to log spindle load to an InfluxDB bucket, took me one afternoon to script. No extra licenses, good. OPC UA is still absent though, weird gap in 2024.
DN claims 0.01 mm growth over 8 h test at 25 °C lab. Shop floor heat in Dubai hits 38 °C after lunch, expect drift nearer 0.03 mm unless you keep coolant chiller running. The double layer spindle jacket helps, I saw less taper pull than on old Doosan DNM-500.
Aluminum facade brackets, pump housings for desert water lines, stainless valve bodies for ADNOC contractors. They all fit on the 1000 x 410 table. Cycle times stay sane thanks to fast axes, especially on drilling patterns.
You drop the leveling pads, align with 0.02 mm/m spec, pretty normal. Spindle warmup macro, 15 min. ATC pocket mapping, beware large shell mills, max dia 75 mm adjacent empty rule.
See, nobody is perfect, honest look.
Job shops chasing general machining, maintenance divisions inside oilfield groups, universities setting up teaching labs. They need a balanced envelope, not monster size, still quick. SVM 4100 ticks those boxes.
DN Solutions pushes steady iron, not glossy Instagram bait. 12k spindle, 48 m/min rapids, table takes 600 kg. Enough muscle for daily parts, not overkill on price. That is why many UAE outfits pick it, they want a straightforward, reliable, professional workhorse.
